Dr. Martin Gilmore DVM, Veterinarian in Shawnee at Mill CreekMartin D. Gilmore, DVM

Dr. Gilmore is a native of Prairie Village. After practicing for eight years at Mill Creek Animal Hospital, he purchased the Hospital from Dr. Mears in 2009. Dr. Gilmore received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Immunopathology from Kansas State University. He is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

"I have come to realize that I most cherish being able to empower pet owners to be better stewards of their furry family members," he says, "and contributing to that special bond between person and pet."

Following completion of an internship at a large specialty and referral center in Chicago, he returned home to Kansas City. Dr. Gilmore has particular interest in all aspects of feline and internal medicine, as well as dentistry, oral surgery, ultrasound, and preventative health care. In his spare time Dr. Gilmore works in his wood shop and is a US Soccer Association Certified soccer coach. His wife, Mendy, is an executive VP and corporate recruiter for Price Waterhouse Coopers and they have five children, Jack, Grayson, Ryann, Molly and Lucas.

Dr. Mark Mears DVM, veterinarian in Shawnee KansasMark A. Mears, DVM

A Kansas City native, Dr. Mears and his family live in Shawnee. He is active in the local Chamber of Commerce, as well as his church. Dr. Mears completed his undergraduate and veterinary medical degrees at Kansas State University, and founded Mill Creek in 1990 with the goal of providing state-of-the-art medical and surgical care for companion animals at a reasonable price.

Dr. Mears has a special interest in surgery, geriatrics, and behavior and is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He has successfully completed more than 150 reconstructive knee surgeries as well as many patellar surgeries and fracture repairs. "It is a real pleasure to help people have more fulfilled lives by helping their pets stay healthy and happy," he says.

Dr. Mears has a Yorkie named Twinkle. In his spare time he enjoys running, yoga, biking, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Ryan Church DVM, Kansas City veterinarian and pet doctor in Shawnee Kansas at Mill Creek Animal HospitalRyan P. Church, DVM

Dr. Church is a native of Nebraska, but growing up in an Air Force family he has lived in nearly every part of the world. Dr. Church completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to earning his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, geriatric care and general veterinary medicine.

"Building relationships with people and their pets is the best part of my job," he says. "Being able to care for a pet from the time they're young through their entire life to see that bond between them and their family grow and develop, and to be a part of that is such a wonderful thing to experience."

At home, Dr. Church has a "rambunctious" cat, Leo. In his free time, he enjoys going to sporting events (especially Sporting Kansas City soccer), going to live theater shows, visiting museums, and spending time with his wife, Jody, and two daughters, Natalie and Megan. He is also an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Gardner, Kansas.
