Dr. Schumacher is a Kansas City native, but considers both Des Moines and Kansas City home. She is a proud Cyclone and received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University before graduating as a Tiger from University of Missouri-Columbia, College of Veterinary Medicine.

While veterinary medicine is a large and diverse field, Dr. Schumacher finds medicine, behavior, and clinical pathology the most intriguing - particularly if it involves cats. However, the most fulfilling part of the day is getting to know and build relationships with clients and pets, becoming a partner in their care. Dr. Schumacher is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Assocation and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Schumacher, her husband, and beautiful daughter have 4 pets - Layla, an overly smart Border Collie mix, Lieutenant, a goofy Standard Poodle, and 2 boisterous cats- Hobbes and Disney. Dr. Schumacher enjoys spending her free time riding horses, hiking and running with Lieutenant, playing violin, exploring and experiencing Kansas City, and cheering on the Kansas City sports teams.
